MORE new houses have been put on sale to help ease the city's ongoing housing crisis.

Redrow Thames Valley, one of three housing developers building homes at Barton Park, announced on Monday that 48 of its new builds are now available for purchase.

The new houses currently available, based at The Steeples on Stevenson Crescent, amount to just under a quarter of the total new homes the developers are building at the site.

The three and four-bedroom homes are available for £545,000 and with a number of the larger homes being named after Oxfordshire landmarks such as ‘The Ashmolean’ and ‘The Blenheim’.

Earlier this month the last round of development began on the estate, which will bring another 400 homes to the Barton Park site.

This will mean the development will have 885 homes in total – Oxford City Council have said that 40 per cent will be rented out as social housing.

The council has insisted this will be the final large parcel of land within its boundaries that will be developed.

However, land outside the city, in districts such as the Vale of the White Horse and Cherwell Valley, have also been earmarked for housebuilding.

Redrow Thames Valley have said the new homes at The Steeples are ‘perfect for growing families’ as they have an open-plan dining and lounge area, three bedrooms, all with an ensuite, and a balcony.

The new community is already starting to be formed at Barton Park.

In 2019, the first families moved onto the estate and now there are currently more than 200 households on the site.

A new primary school was also opened last year for families on the estate and neighbouring Barton.

The housing estate is also located to a number of local schools, the John Radcliffe Hospital and major roads such as the M40.

Sarah Boyce, Sales Director at Redrow Thames Valley, said: “With the addition of 48 new homes, The Steeples continues to provide a popular collection of contemporary homes that combine practicality with quality and style.

“We are excited to be launching several brand-new house types, and as one of the most advanced NHS England Healthy New Town sites, The Steeples really is the ideal place to call home. From an abundance of green space to a whole host of community facilities, The Steeples really does ensure homeowners prioritise their wellbeing and make the most of much-needed downtime.

“We would encourage those interested to book an appointment as soon as possible, as these homes won’t be around for long.”
