LAYLA Moran has praised care home staff following a recent visit.

The Oxford West and Abingdon MP visited the Lincroft Meadow care home in Kidlington as part of Care Home Open Week.

The week was an opportunity to connect with care home residents unable to see close family and friends due to the pandemic.

Ms Moran said: “This year has been exceptionally difficult for those living and working in care homes, which is why the visit was so important.

“It was a great opportunity to spend time with the residents and listen to all of their amazing stories.

“Care home staff work tirelessly to keep those they care for happy, healthy and safe.

“They deserve that recognition, but also the funding they need.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Lincroft Meadow for inviting me to visit – I had a wonderful time and was delighted to come along.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to all the staff, carers and unpaid carers in Oxfordshire and the rest of the UK for their incredible efforts – I assure you it does not go unnoticed.”

Lincroft Meadow home manager Elaine Ratcliffe added: “Residents and staff at Lincroft Meadow always enjoy participating in Care Home Open Week as it’s a great opportunity to have some fun and to showcase what life at Lincroft is all about.

“Having had to cancel the events we had planned last year, it was fantastic to be able to take part again this year.

“We were delighted to open our doors to a few special guests from the local community, it was a real treat for residents after such a long time.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who visited us, we hope that as restrictions continue to ease we will be able to host more events in the near future.”
