POLICE caught an uninsured drink driver after he crashed into a parked car in Oxford.
Prosecutor Ann Sawyer-Brandish told Oxford Magistrates’ Court that police were called to reports of a crash on Balfour Road, Blackbird Leys, on June 7, 2021. A black Honda Civic had struck a parked car.
The driver was 20-year-old Soul Kitching. His father spoke to police at the scene, confirming it was his car but his son was driving when it crashed.
Kitching failed a roadside breath test and was later found to have 70mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath - twice the legal limit of 35mcgs.
Fining him £300 and banning him from driving for two years, District Judge Kamlesh Rana said: “It’s very sad to see you in court for something so silly as this.”
Kitching, of Balfour Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance or a licence. He was ordered to pay £119 in costs and surcharge.
