Primary schoolchildren learned all about policing - from the horses' mouth this week.

The Mounted Section of Thames Valley Police took their horses to primary schools on Blackbird Leys.

They visited Pegasus School, Orchard Meadow and Mabel Prichard.

TVP tweeted: "The kids had a blast."

Headteacher of Pegasus School Ruth Akrigg said: "We knew they were coming and arranged it for the children's lunch break in the school grounds.

"The children weren't allowed to stroke the horses, they stood on the other side of the hill and the children waved."

The Thames Valley Police mounted police section currently has nine horses and plays an important role in maintaining public order including policing football matches, demonstrations, marches and events.

They recently patrolled Windsor ahead of the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh.
