A fire broke out in a barn in Chilton yesterday morning requiring on site staff to dampen down hay bales and move away livestock.
Crews from Bicester, Thame, Slade and supported by the water carrier from Wheatley went to the scene.
Due to the distance to the nearest hydrant, appliances were used to create a water shuttle from Oakley and this was supplemented by a water carrier.
It was a protracted incident which involved crews damping down bales while the staff moved machinery and stock from the vicinity before ventilation fans were used to accelerate a controlled burn of the bales.
Luckily there were no injuries.
