FIREFIGHTERS rescued a dangerously hot lorry on the M40 this morning.
Both crews from Bicester went to the junction 10 services just after 5am.
Writing on Facebook, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "After an inspection of the rear brakes and axle by our crews it was clear there had been a mechanical defect, with the axle almost white hot and lucky the radiating heat hadn’t set the rest of the lorry alight."
The team used two high-pressure hose reels to cool down the area until it was safe to hand back to the driver to arrange recovery.
