TWENTY-SEVEN knives were disposed of at an Oxfordshire police station last week.

As Operation Sceptre came to an end - a police crack down on knife crime - officers emptied the knife amnesty bin at Abingdon police station yesterday where they found the knives.

Police said in a tweet: "This is 27 potentially dangerous weapons off the streets."
