NEARLY 11 million people in the UK have received their second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine in the wake of a stark warning from the Government about a third wave in the summer.

The UK is likely to see a 'summer surge' in cases as lockdown is relaxed, Professor Adam Finn, of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation said.

According to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Wednesday, there were 18 new cases recorded in the county – a decrease of five from the number of cases from the day prior.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,863 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,824.

The last death recorded in the county happened on March 30.
