'DISGUSTING, racist' graffiti has been removed from a wall facing one of Oxford's busiest streets.

One passer-by made the grim discovery this morning when walking on Cowley Road.

They took to social media to share a photo of the wall, on Marston Street, which was drawn on in what appeared to be black marker pen.

A heart was sketched on the wall, while underneath a giant Nazi logo was scribbled next to the words 'hate' and 'rage' and 'don't censor me again you leftist woke c*** c***s'.

Oxford City Councillor Shaista Aziz said she reported the 'shameful' hate speech to Thames Valley Police and the council first thing.

When the Oxford Mail had arrived, by 12.30pm, the area smelt of fresh paint and the wall had just been painted over (pictured).

Ms Aziz, who is also the race and equalities champion for Oxford, said it was 'really important that the council had acted 'so speedy' to remove the foul words, which have 'no place in our multi-racial and diverse city'.

She said: "I believe the misogyny along with the racism is very deliberate and follows the murder of Sarah Everard in London which has triggered a huge wave of grief from women in our city and the country demanding an end to violence against women and girls.

"Where there is racism, misogyny usually follows. There is no place for any bigotry in our city.

"I know this has caused distress for many people. I have asked the police to update me on their investigation into this."

Oxford Direct Services removed the graffiti in less than an hour after spotting it on social media.

Thames Valley Police have been asked if they are investigating it.
