RESIDENTS are protesting to stop a historic Victorian bridge from potentially being removed.

Locals in Horspath woke up on Tuesday morning to find that the road underneath Cuddesdon Road Bridge had been closed for emergency proceedings.

According to one resident, Helen Morgan, workmen at the bridge today said that signs warning of the temporary closure were meant to appear weeks ago but had not been put in place.

The resident also added that Horspath Parish Council was only informed about the closure on Tuesday evening at their monthly parish council meeting.

Locals now fear the bridge will be permanently removed after a Freedom of Information request surfaced stating that the bridge in Horspath was one of the railway bridges across the county listed for demolition.
