Monica Wagstaff

WAGSTAFF Monica It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Monica Wagstaff, in her 91st year. Monica died peacefully in the JR Hospital on February 7th after a brief battle with pneumonia. Monica was born and lived her whole life in Summertown except for her years at teachers college. She taught young children at Catholic schools in Oxfordshire. She is predeceased by her sister Clare, who died three weeks ago. She is survived by her sister Dorothy who resides in Canada with her family. Monica was very accomplished and arranged flowers on the altars of SS. Gregory & Augustine and St. Aloysius, where she also did portering. She was also an accredited dressmaker, and she loved gardening. Monica and Clare spent a year and a half in the Lady Nuffield Home where the wonderful staff made them very comfortable. Monica also spent a month in Freeland House Nursing Home who also provided very good care for her. A requiem mass for Monica will be held at SS Gregory and Augustine RC Church on Thursday 4th March at 11.00am. All enquiries to C.S. Boswell of Summertown on 01865 553737.
