Volunteers in Oxford are needed to support a dog walking charity for the elderly to avoid pets being separated from their owners.

The Cinnamon Trust is a charity that puts the elderly in touch with volunteers to walk their dogs, to ensure dogs and their elderly owners do not have to face being separated from their pets.

Pets are taken on regular walks which can be something that elderly pet owners can often struggle with.

Pets can also be temporarily fostered if the owner is unable to care for the pet whilst they are in hospital.

In addition, national pet food company Webbox, is supporting the charity by encouraging its employees plus their families and friends to step forward and help out.

Camille Ashforth, senior brand manager at Webbox, said: “COVID-19 has made us more aware than ever about those around us, and how they may be struggling. Community initiatives are cropping up at a fantastic rate, so we thought we would team up with The Cinnamon Trust to start the hardly–talked about topic of elderly pet care.

“We, just like the trust, want to make sure that elderly pet owners are kept with their dogs for as long as possible. This contribution to the volunteers acts as a huge thank you for their efforts in keeping these relations united, especially as we experience what will be a very isolated winter for most.”
