A PROLIFIC offender caught dealing drugs to fund his own addiction has been jailed.

Lee Bromley - who has 121 previous crimes to his name - appeared at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

The 44-year-old of Jubilee Court, Banbury, had already admitted two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine and one of supplying heroin.

Prosecutors said that Bromley was spotted by police officers cycling near his home on the afternoon of October 1 this year.

He was stopped and searched and police found in his possession dozens of wraps of class A drugs.

Experts said that the seized heroin and cocaine represented a street value of about £1,200.

The court also heard that Bromley has a total of 55 previous convictions for 121 offences, largely for 'non-compliance with court orders' and 'acquisitive' offending.

In mitigation it was said that Bromley was himself a class A drugs addict and he was dealing in order to pay for his own supply.

It was also revealed that the prolific offender was now drugs free after going 'cold turkey' while in prison.

Sentencing, Judge Nigel Daly said: "You are a drug addict, you know what a miserable life drug addicts have because you have lived such a life.

"You also know how that has affected your family.

"Here you are actually supplying such drugs to other people."

Bromley was jailed for a total of three years and he must pay a statutory victim surcharge.
