A MAN who posted a naked photograph of a woman online in a so-called 'revenge porn' attack has been handed a community penalty.

Prosecutors said that William Turner also wrote that his victim was a 'f***ing sket' - a slang word meaning whore - and wrote 'she's disgusting.'

The victim later said she had been left feeling humiliated by what had happened to her and said it had had a 'massive' impact on her whole life.

The 25-year-old of Knights Road, Oxford, had already admitted one count of disclosing private sexual photographs.

He was sentenced for that single offence at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Outlining the case prosecutor Cathy Olliver said that the incident took place last year in Oxford.

The woman had posted an unrelated image on to her Instagram account, which Turner then re-posted on his own account.

He went on to include 'abusive comments' before later uploading a photograph of the woman which showed her naked body.

That image was accompanied by text which read: "Need I say more, this girl is a f***ing sket."

He also posted the same image with the caption 'dirt' and said 'she's disgusting.'

The court heard that the woman said she felt it was 'humiliating' and Ms Olliver said: "Her photos are out there and she feels they are out there in the hands of people not disposed to her."

She added: "It has had a massive effect on her whole life."

It was also said that the images had been 'widely circulated' and it was noted that Turner had no other previous convictions.

In mitigation his defence barrister said that his client was remorseful for what he had done.

It was also said that it was a single photograph with parts of the image 'blacked out.'

Sentencing, Judge Nigel Daly handed Turner a community order which will last for a total of 18 months.

As part of that order he must complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and the 'building better relationships' programme aimed at tackling his offending.

He was also made subject to a restraining order indefinitely and must pay a statutory victim surcharge.
