STAFF at the Oxford branch of an under-fire high street chain are still in the dark over when their store will shut.

The Edinburgh Wollen Mill in Carfax Corner is holding a closing down sale after the company announced earlier this month that it was close to collapse.

A staff member at the Oxford store said yesterday they were "still waiting" to be given a closing date by bosses.

It is one of five Oxfordshire branches of the fashion shop, which owns Peacocks and Jaeger, with the others located in Abingdon, Witney, Yarnton and Chilton.

Bosses wrote to staff two weeks ago explaining national and local lockdowns had hit sales very heavily, putting 24,000 jobs at risk.

The company, which was contacted for comment, lodged a notice of intention to appoint administrators to look for potential buyers ahead of taking further action.
