SWANS were spotted in Port Meadow after it turned into a pool of water due to heavy rainfall in Oxford.

Paul Flather, 65, from Oxford, captured this photo when he was out on a walk with his daughter Stella, last Saturday evening as the sun set across the city.

He said: "I often walk on Port Meadow and love to note the changing seasons and look of the land."

Oxford City Council says it encourages people to enjoy Port Meadow and other green spaces responsibly, and its direct services company ODS has installed extra bins at entrances to the meadow that are being emptied more frequently than before the pandemic.

It comes after animals have sustained multiple injuries at the site including swans that become entangled in litter.
