OXFORD Cycling Club (OCC) has made its annual donation to Sobell House hospice.

Since the club was founded in 2016, it has donated proportions of all of its funds raised from annual memberships and kit sales to Sobell House.

This year the club raised £400 for the hospice due to the ongoing support from existing club members and the ‘influx of new members in recent weeks’.

The cheque will be ‘winging its way’ to the charity this week.

Club secretary, Mike Lowndes, said: “The club has been so pleased to continue its support for Sobell House, whose dedicated staff have been providing much-needed specialist palliative care to Oxfordshire residents for many years.

“We wear the Sobell logo on our club jerseys with great pride and look forward to raising more funds for the hospice in the future.”

The OCC is currently offering rides to non-members every Saturday morning.

The club will meet at 9am from outside Bike Zone on St Michael’s Street in the historic centre of the city.

Please contact the club via their website or Facebook page to come along and enjoy a socially-distanced ride into and around rural Oxfordshire.
