Furness Coastguard were called out to Askam Pier to assist in the extraction of a casualty on Tuesday.
The coastguard team were paged at 2.53pm after receiving a request from the North West Ambulance Service to assist with the casualty extraction from Askam Pier.
When they arrived, the coastguard team liaised with the ambulance service on scene and were informed that the casualty had managed to make their own way off the beach and were now in their care.
