Boris Johnson has hit Oxfordshire for six with the new coronavirus rules this month.

As Covid rules become tighter, we are now limited to meeting in groups of six or less.

Social gatherings of more than six have been made illegal by the government since September 14, with some exceptions, amid a rise in coronavirus cases.

The law change bans groups of more than six from meeting inside or outdoors and is being enforced through a £100 fine if people fail to comply, doubling on each offence up to a maximum of £3,200.

We figured we could help with some ideas on what to do in Oxfordshire without breaking the rules:

Sail down the Thames

Oxford Mail:

What better way to wind down the summer than with your loved ones on the stunning River Thames?

The tour lasts 45 minutes and finishes with a tasting of their award-winning spirits.

The tickets are sold at £40 per pair of tickets and people can book up to three pairs at once.

Try and get out of an escape room

Do you and your friends have the patience and brain-power to get out of an escape room? If you’re up for the challenge then why not give it a go.

City Mazes Oxford has a range of rooms to escape from including wizard, space and atomic-bomb themed challenges.

Based in the OZone Leisure Park they are open from 12-9 pm Monday to Thursday and 9-11 pm from Saturday to Sunday.

Have a go at a game of rounders

Oxford Mail:

Great fun for all age groups and a sure way to dust off the cobwebs, the old school sport of rounders could be an ideal activity for you and five friends.

All you need is a bat and ball which you can get online for as little at £7.25.

A brilliant way to get you moving again after months inside rounders is an easy sport to grasp and you only need six people to play.

Clay pigeon shooting

Oxford Mail:

Clay pigeon shooting is on the list of exempted sports, however, if you are visiting a facility to shoot then the rule of six still applies.

There are a number of locations to shoot clay pigeon across Oxfordshire.

Clay pigeon shooting involves shooting flying clays with a shotgun and is a safe, controlled and challenging sport.

The Big Shoot in Worminghall is suitable for all abilities from complete beginners to the experienced shot.

Prices start at £47.99 per person and following the latest government advice groups of five or less of mixed households, or more with the same household can book - this forms six people including the instructor.
