A LATE surge at the end of his third round ensured Eddie Pepperell continued his strong showing at the Betfred British Masters.
Three birdies in the final six holes saw the Abingdon golfer card a two-under par 69 for the second day in a row to move to eight-under for the tournament at Close House GC, Newcastle.
It left the 29-year-old tied for 14th at the end of his round to maintain his impressive return to action.
Playing alongside fellow Englishman Toby Tree, the Frilford Heath member once again started solidly, with six successive pars followed by a birdie at the seventh.
Two more pars followed, before Pepperell briefly dropped down the leaderboard thanks to bogeys at the tenth and 11th holes.
Despite the slip, he steadied himself with a par at the 12th before getting back in the groove with another birdie at the 13th.
This put Pepperell back at level par for the round and he picked up another shot at the 15th.
Two successive pars were followed by a fourth birdie at the 18th to finish with a flourish.
