OXFORD United's official charity is relaunching its summer holiday football courses.

The popular sessions run by Oxford United in the Community (OUITC) had been cancelled due to the coronavirus lockdown, but will return at The Oxford Academy in Littlemore next month.

They are hosted by OUITC coaches and are for boys and girls aged four to 13.

Numbers are limited to ensure social distancing, while enhanced hygiene regimes will be in place.

Chris Lowes, head of Oxford United in the Community, said: “It is great to be able to host some football courses again and we’re looking forward to welcoming youngsters back.

"Places are available on a first come, first served basis and so we are recommending parents book now to avoid disappointment.

“Like many charities we have been hit hard by COVID-19 and so it is a positive step forward for us to be able to host some courses again and support local families.

"Normally we would run courses at multiple venues in the summer holidays, but due to the pandemic we are having to rebuild carefully.

“The courses are structured for children to have fun and improve their skills in a nurturing and safe environment.

"They are delivered as part of the charity’s commitment to support active and healthy lifestyles among youngsters in Oxfordshire.”

All coaches are FA qualified and have up to date safeguarding, first aid training and CRC checks.

Children need to bring their own football kit, including shin-pads, boots and trainers, plus lunch and drinks.

The courses are 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, and are £75 per week, or £20 per day.
