A PERVERT caught again with indecent images of children has been spared jail.

Darren Rivers had already admitted three counts of possessing indecent images of children.

The 38-year-old of Poplar Close, Bracknell, appeared at Oxford Crown Court to be sentenced today.

Outlining the case prosecutors said Rivers was released from a prison sentence in October 2017.

Not long after he went to St Aldates police station in Oxford, seeking help with his mobile phone.

When officers looked at the device a text message was opened which read 'what's the youngest?'

This raised suspicions and he was subsequently visited at a hostel where he was staying in the city.

He handed over two mobile phones and confessed to officers that there would be images of children found.

On the devices were found three indecent images and one movie depicting children in the most severe category - A.

There was also one image in category B and two in category C.

The court also heard that Rivers has a number of previous convictions, including for making indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

In mitigation defence barrister Peter Du Feu said his client had stayed out of trouble since the offences, which were committed more than two years ago.

Sentencing, Judge Maria Lamb ordered a jail term of 20 months, suspended for two years. Rivers must also complete 180 hours of unpaid work, programme requirement for 30 days and 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
