HEALTH leaders are calling for an urgent review to determine whether the UK is prepared for a second coronavirus wave.

Oxford West and Abingdon MP Layla Moran has called on the government to establish an urgent review and cross-party group to devise a strategy for a future spike.

She said: "We know that significant mistakes have been made, from the failure to get a test and trace system up and running to lack of PPE.

"An honest, independent appraisal of these mistakes would ensure the right lessons are learned.

Ms Moran added this is not about 'attributing blame' but about 'coming together as a country and taking urgent action to save lives ahead of a potential second wave'.

The Liberal Democrat also urged the government to keep the Nightingale hospitals mothballed.
