HAVE pity for our city's long-suffering, hard working bus drivers.

It's bad enough they have to deal with Friday night drunks, idiots playing music out of their phones all day and doddery pensioners counting out the pennies for their ticket – now they're suddenly expected to police whether people are wearing face masks as well.

Like so many of the Government's pandemic policies, this one sounded grand and has ended up being almost impossible to police.

No one was ever going to time how long people went out for exercise; Boris doesn't even care that his top advisor drove several hundred miles during lockdown, and now, after declaring that all public transport passengers must wear face coverings, there is absolutely no way to properly enforce it, and our local bus companies are getting the stick for it.

If you think the Government's rule is not being enforced well, tell your MP – they are your representative in Westminster, and they should be able to raise the matter in Parliament.

In the meantime, as always, we urge all of our readers to take care of themselves and each other as best they can at this time.
