AN INDIAN restaurant which has been serving curry lovers in West Oxfordshire for 30 years, is continuing its high standards during lockdown.

Spice of India, in Chipping Norton, received a five-star score when West Oxfordshire District Council’s health team visited just days before it was forced to close its door to diners in March.

However, the West Street eaterie has continued to offer takeaways throughout lockdown.

The restaurant’s website states: “We hope to provide you with an exceptional dining and culinary experience.”

It added Spice of India had been serving customers for three decades and had served more than 24,000 people, saying: “Our many years of experience won’t fail in sustaining a truly unique, gratifying and enticing setting. We’re a small group from Chipping Norton, who make simple food possible.”

On its style of cooking it said: “At Spice of India, we endeavour to maintain original style of Indian cooking to bring you some of finest dishes you’ll want to taste again and again.

“Our staff, our food and tranquil atmosphere of our restaurant is what makes Spice of India.

“Our food is prepared and cooked on a daily basis ensuring freshness and quality is observed at all times.”

It added: “Our skills lie in correct balance and mixture of spices and herbs which we use to cook our food.”

Customers have continued to rave about the quality of the food despite the move to solely takeaway.

“Food delivered on time, and really friendly service when ordering. Good selection of wines delivered as well.

“Looking forward to when we can eat in the restaurant again, but until then will make the most of the home delivery. Well done all at The Spice of India.”

Another, who had only just discovered the Indian restaurant, wrote: “Have lived in the area for 15 years and for some bizarre reason have never patronised this restaurant.
