RESIDENTS will get the opportunity to scrutinise plans for approximately 160 new homes in West Oxfordshire later this week.

The community in Eynsham have been invited to view plans for the West Eynsham Strategic Development Area (SDA), including the first phase, Chilbrook Meadows.

Situated to the south of the A40 and to the west of Eynsham, the SDA is perceived as a crucial part of West Oxfordshire District Council’s (WODC) Local Plan.

The Local Plan sets out that land to the west of Eynsham is allocated for the delivery of 1,000 new homes.

Property investor and developer Jansons Property, is aiming to build approximately 160 new homes, of which 50 per cent could be affordable.

Jansons says it has written to all village residents, inviting them to view the development proposals online via a webinar presentation from 1pm on Friday.

Members of the project team will be presenting proposals, whilst throughout the session, questions can be submitted.

If Jansons’ proposals are accepted, the developer aims to avoid the Chil Brook flood plain and make best use of the Park and Ride facility in Eynsham, which is due to start construction next year.

The developer has said it will invest in the local community and make enhancements to the local environment, facilitating a Linear Park which follows the Chil Brook.

Jeff Haine, cabinet member for strategic planning at WODC, added: “The site forms part of the West Eynsham SDA which is allocated in the West Oxfordshire Local Plan for the provision of around 1,000 homes together with supporting services and facilities including a new primary school.

“The council is keen to realise the benefits of the proposal including the provision of new affordable homes and green space, improved transport links and new community space and is working with all of the various landowner interests to bring the whole site forward in accordance with an agreed overall masterplan.

“The consultation event on Friday is being led by one of the site promoters who is looking to bring forward their site as a first phase.”

Jansons was established in 2003 with 80 per cent of its projects located in West London and the Thames Valley.

WODC’s Local Plan was formally adopted in September 2018 and sets out the overall planning framework for the district up to 2031.

The plan seeks to address problems such as traffic congestion on the A40, and other broader topics like housing affordability and climate change.
