SUPERINTENDENT Emma Garside has been made the new commander the Cherwell and West Oxfordshire local policing area (LPA).
On Monday Superintendent Garside returned to the area taking over as commander from Mark Johns, who is retiring.
She joined the force in 1996 and has worked as a response officer, in the neighbourhood team and on investigations.
On her new appointment, Superintendent Garside said she was delighted, adding: "I live locally in the LPA with my two daughters and look forward to the opportunity to make a positive difference."
