A MAN accused of carrying out a burglary in a bid to injure a man, as well as damaging a front door, has appeared at court.

Arkadiusz Towarek is charged with one count of aggravated burglary and another alleged offence of damaging property.

He pleaded not guilty to both counts at a hearing held at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Prosecutors allege that the 23-year-old of Blackbird Leys Road, Oxford, carried out the two offences on April 22 this year on Freelands Road, Cowley, Oxford.

It is claimed that Towarek entered a dwelling there as a trespasser 'with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm,' and that he also had a weapon with him while at the address - said to be a wooden pole.

Towarek is further claimed to have damaged property by damaging a front door at the same address.

After the pleas of not guilty were entered to each offence presiding Judge Ian Pringle QC agreed to set a date for trial.

That trial was pencilled in to be heard at the same court on October 12 this year.

It is expected to last between two and three days and Towarek was remanded in custody to await that hearing.
