PROFESSIONAL networking group Opendoorz spent a year running fundraising activities for Oxford charity SeeSaw, including a wing walk, to raise £20,000.

Opendoorz directors, Cathy Dunbabin and Sonia Kearns, are ambassadors to several local charities, including SpecialEffect, Sobell House and SeeSaw.

In fact, over the years their dedication to supporting local charities has seen them organise everything from music festivals to woodlands tea parties and pink tie balls and breakfasts with sporting stars.

For the financial year 2019-2020, Headington-based SeeSaw has been their nominated charity and the pair have worked tirelessly to raise funds and raise the profile of the charity that provides grief support for children and young people across Oxfordshire. Every year the charity supports around 550 children who have lost a parent or a sibling.

Ms Kearns said: “Being part of the community and supporting local causes is one of the cornerstones of the Opendoorz values. We call it ‘generosity of spirit’.

Opendoorz now runs seven groups across Oxfordshire and Berkshire with a membership of around 90 business owners or directors meeting twice a month.

Ms Kearns said: “From running the Oxford Half Marathon to cycling Bike Oxford, our members have well and truly rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into the fundraising.”

Jane Elliott, corporate fundraiser at Seesaw, said: “Watching the intrepid Opendoorz team take to the skies on the wing walk was definitely one of my career highlights as fundraiser.”
