Temporary changes to Oxford Tube coach services to London have being introduced, with a reduced timetable due to coronavirus.

The changes, brought in today, reflect new Government advice around social contact and non-essential travel, in order to help combat the coronavirus.

A reduced timetable will operate until further notice. The timetables have been carefully created to ensure that key services are maintained where possible.

This follows extensive action by bus and coach operators to enhance cleaning regimes and protect the safety and well-being of customers and its employees.

Separately, the bus and coach industry is also engaging with Government to help ensure the long-term future of bus and coach services is protected as these services are critical to the economy and local communities.

Chris Coleman, managing director at Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, which manages the Oxford Tube, said: “Along with other operators, we are working hard to support the national effort.

“The safety of our customers and our employees is at the heart of everything we do.

"We also know that our services play a vital role in keeping the country running and ensuring key sector personnel get to work.

"Following the latest government advice, we have reviewed our timetable and made temporary changes which reflect the reduced level of travel into the capital.”

The Oxford Tube timetable will be reduced to a frequency of up to 20 minutes during morning peaks leaving Oxford and afternoon peaks from London. During the day, services will run to a half-hourly timetable but will maintain a 24-hour offering.

Since the impact of the coronavirus, Stagecoach has implemented additional hygiene measures.

In addition to well-established and rigorous cleaning regimes, there has been more frequent cleaning of main customer touch-points on buses, such as hand poles and grab rails.
