Note: This article was written before the government's closure order to all non-essential shops on Monday, March 23. Following that, announcement Minty Beds took the difficult decision to close to customers, and now hopes to reopen as soon as the situation allows.

STAFF at Minty Beds in Botley want to remind customers that for the time being it is business as usual and they are #StillopeninOxfordshire.

For 31 years the firm and its showroom has been based at the Curtis Industrial Estate and it is keen to remind customers that it will do everything it can to keep serving them through the coronavirus crisis.

Ray Harris is the oldest member of staff at Minty Beds and has worked there for 18 years.

He said: “We have just had a busy weekend with plenty of customers in the showroom and we have a very full order book.

“The government advice is changing on a daily basis but for the time being we are keeping going as we usually do.

“Of course we are making sure we stay as hygienic as possible - all our mattresses get sprayed and wiped down every night.”

Mr Harris said deliveries of beds would continue to be free for all customers in the OX code.

He added: “It doesn’t matter if you live in Didcot, Thame, Banbury or Chipping Norton - if it’s an OX code it’s free delivery. Our beds and mattresses range from the budget stuff to the most expensive brands.

"We don’t have an online presence so we do rely on people being able to come to the showroom and hopefully that will be able to continue for as long as possible.”

Mr Harris added that whatever happened in the coming days and weeks staff would be on the end of the phone to take customer orders and prepare deliveries.

He said: “Until we are told otherwise we will keep going in the best way we can.”
