A HOUSING developer has said it doesn't want to submit an official noise assessment for a new estate of 190 homes, because there isn't a youth centre near the site.
Bewley Homes agreed four years ago to write an official noise report before it built the new estate on Highworth Road, Faringdon.
However the company has now written to Vale of White Horse District Council saying the original reason it was asked to carry out a noise assessment was because there was a youth centre and a depot nearby which have now shut.

As a result it has confidently told the council it is no longer 'reasonable' to even carry out the assessment of the loud noises which might disturb neighbours from the construction of nearly 200 homes.
The company said: "The application to remove the condition is due to the use of the premises as a Temporary Youth Centre and depot having ceased.
"In light of this change in circumstances, the requirement to provide a noise report (demonstrating the impact of the Youth Centre and depot site on the approved housing site) is no longer considered to be justified.
"Discussion with [a] senior planning officer... has taken place in regard to why the condition is no longer considered to be reasonable, relevant or necessary'.
The firm has also paid the council £116 with its application.
