A DRUG dealer who ran a cocaine and heroin racket from his Banbury home has been jailed.

Max McTaggart appeared at Oxford Crown Court to be sentenced yesterday (March 16)after admitting two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs - heroin and cocaine.

The 36-year-old of Middleton Road, Banbury, also admitted the possession of a quantity of heroin.

At his sentencing hearing prosecutor Julian Lynch said that McTaggart was caught after police searched his home on February 25 last year.

They found digital scales. a small quantity of drugs and a mobile phone.

On analysing that Nokia phone police discovered a drug dealing operation with messages dating back to August 2018 relating to dealing drugs.

In mitigation his defence barrister Lucy Ffrench said that her client had suffered with a drug addiction since he was 21.

Sentencing Judge Peter Ross called the drug dealing offences 'a despicable and evil trade.'

McTaggart was jailed for a total of five years and three months.
