A PLEDGE to become the first 'smoke-free' county in England has been launched.

The Oxfordshire Tobacco Alliance Strategy 2020-25 was launched today, and now members of the public can give their opinions on plans to cut smoking in the county.

It is a joint effort between Oxfordshire's councils and health organisations.

It is currently at 10 per cent.

Oxfordshire public health director Ansaf Azhar said the tobacco strategy 'will help residents to live healthy lives'.

The strategy has four parts: prevention, local regulation and enforcement, creating smoke free environments and supporting smokers to quit.
