A PUB and restaurant on Oxford's Abingdon Road has closed three years after opening.

The family-owned B&B, pub and cafe called Home shut on Sunday evening, having served food and drink for the last time.

It was ranked sixth of 489 restaurants in Oxford on TripAdvisor, boasting five stars.

Staff wrote on Home’s Facebook page: “Our wonderful home experiment is over after three amazing years.

“We want to thank all of our guests and regulars for all the lovely conversations and smiles. But most of all we want to thank all our amazing, beautiful staff. You made it all worthwhile.

“We will see you out there in the world. Have a wonderful life all. Thanks for being a part of our big adventure.”

It had advised customers of the closure in January.

One of the last reviews on TripAdvisor was from a customer called Jon.

He wrote: "Every time I’ve been I’ve had a great experience.

"The food is great, with a varied and interesting menu, with something for everyone. The service was also great.

"It’s a real shame that home is closing as it really was a breath of fresh air amongst the oxford chain restaurants, and really hand for Abingdon road folk. I’m gutted!"

Staff replied: "Keep your eyes peeled for Tap Social opening on the White House site this summer, keeping the Abingdon Rd fresh food good beer vibe alive."

Craft brewery Tap Social announced in November that it would move into the empty White House pub further along Abingdon Road, which had been boarded up.
