EMERGENCY services blocked off part of the Oxford ring road yesterdayafternoon.

Motorists were unable to access the slip road leading from Eastern Bypass to the Garsington Road roundabout near Tesco.

The slip road is just outside the Mini plant.

A driver who passed the scene at 3pm said she saw two fire engines blocking the road, two marked police cars and at least one unmarked police car, as well as an ambulance.

At least two cars and a van were seen next to the emergency vehicles.

She said she could not see if there had been a collision but it was clear there had been an emergency response, as the crews all had their blue lights flashing.

Congestion was slow but moving on the Eastern Bypass heading towards Littlemore Roundabout, and the B480 on the approach to the Tesco roundabout was also more congested than usual.

South Central Ambulance Service spokesman David Gallagher has now confirmed one person with minor injuries was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital following reports of a three vehicle collision at about 1.45pm.
