THESE stunning images are among those on show at a new exhibition at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.

Members of Oxford Photographic Society have provided 52 images which are now on display in the Cloister Gallery and will remain on show on Sunday, March 15.

The pictures are favourites chosen by members of the society who meet every week.

Images on display cover a wide variety of genres from travel, wildlife and street life to the unexpected and obscure.

It is hoped that the exhibition will inspire anyone with a camera or an iPhone to get out and take more photos!

Exhibition secretary Sandra Devaney said: “Glyn Dewis, who specialises in photographing war veterans, opened our exhibition for us.

“We meet every Tuesday in the silver band hall off Cowley Road from September to June and we get some great speakers giving presentations.

“One of the things I love about photography is the fact that a great photo can be achieved by a lucky snap from your phone or as the result of years of experience and patience on the day.

“I am a fairly new member of OPS and putting together this exhibition has been great fun; firstly discovering the stunning Cloister Gallery and indeed the SOFO museum, but most of all the opportunity to display and share these imaginative, contemplative and sometimes funny images – the quality of the work is excellent.”

Society chairman Ivor Porter said members of OPS ranged from complete beginners to experienced and professional photographers.

Member Adrian Cubitt said: “Joining OPS has given me the inspiration and encouragement I needed to get out and about with my camera more.”
