Nicola Wilson, Director, The Wish Wash Company, said: “We have always recognised that our staff are our best asset and focused on employee engagement, but we don’t have our own HR function and felt recruitment processes and performance management were inconsistent across the business. Keen to address this we signed up with Chwarae Teg’s programme and we’re delighted that we’ve achieved the top rating of ‘Leading’.

“The management training has been invaluable to us and has supported us to have the confidence to manage some difficult staffing issues.”

The business has been working closely with Chwarae Teg which runs the Agile Nation2 Business Programme, which is fully funded by the European Social Fund through Welsh Government.

The Business Programme carries out a holistic review of current working practices, makes recommendations for inclusive working practices, to help retain staff while promoting equality and diversity in the workplace.

Gemma Littlejohns, Senior Business Partner, Chwarae Teg, said: “The Wish Wash Company, were fully committed to the programme and open to making changes and taking advice on board. Having implemented the action plan following the all staff survey, the company has improved the quality of job applicants, increased the confidence and capability of managers to monitor and review performance, which along with a new reward scheme has resulted in staff feeling more valued.”
