DARREN Ferguson said there was only one team in it once Peterborough United had opened the scoring against Oxford United.

Little of note happened in the contest before Siriki Dembele streaked clear to make it 1-0 on 36 minutes.

And Posh never looked back, running out 4-0 winners to inflict a demoralising defeat.

Ferguson, Peterborough’s manager, said: “It was a fantastic performance from my team.

“We didn’t start the game great – it was a bit careless from us.

Match report: Peterborough Utd 4, Oxford Utd 0

“We couldn’t get our first pass off and there wasn’t much in it.

“I felt from the moment we got the first goal we absolutely dominated and should have been more than one goal up at half-time.”

He added: “The third goal was massive for us and the fourth goal shows what we’re all about.

“We’re just running all over them at that point.”

Even though Nathan Thompson was sent off for two bookings, the hosts never looked troubled.

And for Peterborough it was a third big win over a promotion rival in less than three weeks.

Ferguson said: “To score four goals against Wycombe, Ipswich and now Oxford, three teams right around us – and to beat four out of the five around us – is something I felt we needed to do, but we’ve done (it) in fantastic fashion.”
