DIDCOT Town shocked Oxfordshire rivals Thame United to claim a much-needed 2-0 win in BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central.

Jack Dark and Seth Humphries struck in the first half to give the hosts their first point for three weeks and dent their opponents’ play-off challenge.

The Railwaymen had the first real chance of the afternoon, but Cameron McNeill could not profit from Luke Carnell’s knock-down and scuffed a shot straight at Craig Hill.

Dark was far more clinical with the next chance that came Didcot’s way, though.

Hill mis-kicked a clearance straight into the forward’s path and he shot into the gaping net from 40 yards.

George Reid was forced off with an injury moments later, Humphries replacing him.

Thame were unable to exert any real pressure and found themselves two goals down a minute before the break.

Humphries was put through with only Hill to beat and he made no mistake.

The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession in the second half but Didcot defended resolutely, Greg Hackett testing Leigh Bedwell with a shot from distance that the goalkeeper did well to save.

The home side cleared a header off the line a few minutes later, before Bedwell thwarted Ryan Blake with four minutes of normal time remaining.

It was as close Thame came as Didcot closed out a priceless victory.

Elsewhere, Ben Sadler secured his first point as Kidlington boss with a 1-1 draw at Kempston Rovers.

The visitors had a dream start after 20 minutes, with Jordan Wright given his marching orders for a foul in the penalty area and Ben Willoughby scoring from the spot.

But Sam Johnson levelled four minutes before the break and neither side could force a winner.

North Leigh fell to a 3-1 reverse against the ten men of Yaxley.

The hosts enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half and finally broke the deadlock through Charlie Johnson on 34 minutes.

But within 120 seconds the visitors were level, George Seacole slipping an excellent through ball into the path of Harry Grant, who finished high into the net.

Yaxley captain Ross Watson restored the lead seven minutes after the break, but the skipper was sent off just after the hour mark for a reckless challenge on Lance Williams.

North Leigh pushed for an equaliser, but were hit by a sucker-punch as the home side made it three deep into stoppage time.

Bottom side Wantage Town were beaten 3-1 by Bedworth United, despite taking the lead.

Samir Regragui put the home side ahead after 30 minutes, but Mitchell Piggon equalised with the 100th league goal to go in against Wantage this season.

Luke Keen scored the visitors’ second in the dying moments of the half, with Alexander Troke making the points safe with five minutes left.

In Premier Central, Banbury United fell to a 1-0 loss at the hands of leaders Bromsgrove Sporting.

John Mills and Giorgio Rasulo went close for the home side in the first half, but Mikey Taylor showed great composure to give the visitors the lead in the 39th minute.

Rasulo had a free-kick saved shortly after the restart, while Jack Harding was equal to Taylor’s effort just before the hour mark.

Gregory Kaziboni and Ravi Shamsi saw shots blocked as the Puritans had a flurry of chances midway through the half.

Both sides had opportunities in the closing stages, but neither could find the net as Banbury slipped to tenth in the table.
