OXFORD boasts the largest proportion of people cycling once per week in the country but the rates of bicycle thefts in the city are at the highest in the UK.
The city has the most reported levels of bike theft in Britain in 2018/19, with 2,050 thefts documented – meaning there is one theft in every 81 people.

Cambridge also recorded 2,967 bicycle thefts, or 1 in every 149 individuals.
Similarly, Oxford is the fifth worst city for road accidents in the UK, with an incident for every 416 people.
