A DEALER caught with class A drugs in his underwear after he asked police to use the toilet has been jailed.

Jose Sohossie appeared at Oxford Crown Court to be sentenced yesterday after admitting one count of possession with intent to supply class A drugs - heroin.

Prosecutors said that the 22-year-old of St Clement's, Oxford was originally arrested at his home address by police on December 8 2018 on an unrelated matter.

While at Abingdon Police Station he asked officers if he could use the toilet.

He was escorted and and it was there that police discovered a hidden stash of drugs in his underwear.

Officers seized 17 wraps of heroin which had been concealed inside a 'Kinder Egg type container'.

Police also seized £480 cash from the house and a mobile phone which was later found to have a number of messages relating to drug dealing on it.

Prosecutors went on to say that the offence was carried out while he was subject to a period of post-release licence for an earlier case of robbery.

Sohossie read out a letter to the sentencing judge at court in which he said he had 'made a mistake' and said he was a 'changed person' who wants to better himself.

Sentencing, Judge Nigel Daly said that he 'cannot ignore' the fact that Sohossie committed his latest offence while subject to a licence period, which he said aggravated the case.

Sohossie was jailed for 36 months and he must also pay a statutory victim surcharge.
