Mother-of-one Ms Hallett’s novel tells the tale of Xiao Mei, whose home is threatened by construction plans for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

She fears it may be too controversial to be published in China.

Ms Hallett will be at Kennington Village Centre in Kennington Road from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.

A book fair is taking place and a number of writers have been invited.

Then on Sunday she will be at the Oxford Green Fair at Oxford Town Hall in St Aldate's from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
