PEOPLE in Oxford have a chance to see their artwork appear on new coffee cup recycling bins that are set to appear in the city next year.

Oxford Direct Services (ODS) and Oxford City Council are launching a competition to design artwork that will encourage people to think about the environment and recycle their single-use coffee cups.

Up to 40 winning designs will be wrapped around new street coffee cup recycling bins that will be installed in Headington, Summertown and the city centre from next spring.

Bill Byfield, ODS' Recycling Project Officer who is leading the project, said: "We are looking for participants irrespective of ability and background, who are passionate about the environment, to help us raise awareness of this innovative recycling initiative."

Judges will be looking for designs that will inspire people to make changes in their habits to reduce their impact on the environment coupled with a positive message.

Entries should be submitted on A3 paper at Oxford Town Hall reception between Monday and January 6.

Alternatively a digital entry, which must be 1200 dpi resolution, can be submitted via WeTransfer to acupofinspiration@oxford.gov.uk.
