A brain scan revealed Mr Howes suffered a 'severe traumatic brain injury', who died at John Radcliffe Hospital.
Mr Howes died on the 30th October, days after the crash.
A further inquest will be held in April next year, depending on potential criminal proceedings, the coroner said yesterday.
