A SMALL ceremony where a 'flaming poppy' will be lit will take place next Monday to remember soldiers who have fallen.

Soldiers and members of staff from The Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Munitions and Search (DEMS) Training Regiment is holding a remembrance service at their Regimental Headquarters home in St George's Barracks in Bicester.

In May, the Regiment opened its special and unique Garden of Remembrance which commemorates personnel from all three services who have lost their lives in their duty of searching for and making safe unexploded ordnance.

This will be the first event to be held in the garden since its opening, marking Armistice Day 2019, and although small and personal, it hopes to be an ideal place for all to remember and reflect.

Wreaths from each of the services and one from the Regiment will be laid against the name wall.

A short recital from the poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon will then take place with a two-minute silence, followed by a bugler.

A ‘flaming poppy' will be lit, reminiscent of an eternal flame.
