A MAN had his wallet thrown back in his face after robbers saw there was no money in it.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, at around 2am, a man in his twenties was walking along Old Road in Headington when he was stopped by two men and asked for cash.

The men then punched him in the face and the victim fell to the ground.

It was then that the robbers took the man’s wallet.

They rifled through it before throwing it back to him when they discovered it was empty.

They are described as men in their twenties, wearing dark clothing. 

The victim was taken to hospital after the attack, but has since been discharged. 

Detective constable Marc Robinson, based at St Adates Police Station said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and has information to help assist our investigation to please come forward."
