JAMES Henry has signed a new deal with Oxford United.
The top-scorer for the last two seasons and leading the way again in this campaign has signed an improved two-year deal with the option of an extra year.
The midfielder has been a key figure since joining in 2017, but his deal was due to expire next summer.
He told the Oxford Mail earlier this month he was keen to stay.
And talks between the key U’s man and the club moved quickly and concluded in a fresh deal.
“It was an easy decision because I have loved my time at Oxford and am really enjoying my football right now,” Henry said.
“It is a pleasure to come in to work every day and over the last year or so we have played some very good football.
“But also the club is heading in the right direction in everything I see. I am still ambitious and want to win things, and I am pleased that the club see me as part of what they are building.”
Boss Karl Robinson added: “It’s fantastic news for us.
“It's not just the goals that he scores, ‘Jamo’ is also selfless and will always play for the team, whatever role you ask him to play.
“He has the respect of everyone in the building and we see him as a key part of our plans for the next few seasons.
“It’s great to get this sorted nice and early as well and we look forward to him continuing to play a leading role for us this season and beyond."
