HARRY Oliver came out on top in the third round of Yarnton & District AC’s Winter League on the River Thames at Cassington.

The club chairman fished caster over groundbait and netted 96 roach for a winning weight of 28lb 14oz 0drms.

Harry’s brother, Jacob, fished maggot over groundbait to catch 116, but fell just short of victory with 27.5.0.

Keeping it in the family, father Pete completed the podium with exactly 100 roach, weighing in at 22.2.0 for third place.

The first round of the Angling Trust Oxford Winter League was fished by six teams of eight on the River Thames in Child Beale Park, near Reading.

Pete Bowles drew a peg towards the bottom end of the venue and recorded a fine

haul of roach on 13m pole

and caster over groundbait to come out on top with a winning weight of 28.14.0.

Stuart Keable (22.0.0) came second, with Darren Scott (21.14.0) third.

Richard Mott and Kevin Jeacock took the pairs title at Beehive AC’s match on Lower Court.

Jeacock took the overall prize with 39.2.0 of carp fished with skimmers to waggler and maggot.

Tim Whitewood with second with 32.4.0 of carp to groundbait feeder.

Mott’s 26.8.0 of carp fished on skimmers to the pellet feeder secured third.
