Banbury United return to league action when they entertain Coalville Town in BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Central tomorrow.

The Puritans were without a game last weekend due to their early exit from the Emirates FA Cup, meaning it will be ten days since they were last in action.

But despite boss Mike Ford is upbeat and positive about his side’s start to the season and hopes the week off will help his side.

Ford said: “The break gave us a chance to reflect, review and recharge.

“We have trained hard and have had a good chat as a group about what we’ve done well and where we need to improve.

“I think when we were top, there was a lot of expectation on us. You become a target because everyone wants to beat the leaders.

“Internally, we are pretty much where we think we should be, and our focus now is on the hard slog between now and Christmas.

“You’re looking at a period now where you cement your place in the league and players need to be fresh, both mentally and physically and be ready to scrap.”

Amer Awadh could return to the Banbury squad after injury.

In Division 1 Central, Didcot Town face the toughest test possible as they look to turn their fortunes around.

A 4-0 defeat at Berkhamsted was followed by a midweek reverse at Thame United.

The Railwaymen travel to leaders AFC Dunstable tomorrow, facing a side boasting a 100 per cent home record.

Seth Humphries (ankle) is a major doubt, but George Reid is set to return.

Boss Jamie Heapy said: “We didn’t deserve anything at Berkhamsted and were beaten by the better side.

“We were much-improved against Thame, and we just need to keep working hard on the training ground and stick together. I am confident that results will pick up.”

Basement side Wantage Town travel to Bedworth Town hoping to stop a torrid run of form which has seen them concede 23 goals in their last three league games.

THAME United boss Mark West is delighted with his side’s recent upturn in form.

But he knows they will need to be at their best when they entertain Kidlington in tomorrow’s Buildbase FA Trophy extra preliminary round tie at the ASM Stadium.

Three successive wins has propelled Thame into the top ten of the BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central table.

But tomorrow their attention turns to the Trophy, with West believing his side will need to be at their best to beat a Kidlington side who have also produced several fine performances of late.

“We’ve had some good results recently, and to pick up nine points from the last nine is pleasing,” said West.

“But we need to keep this going, and we know how tough Kidlington will be.

“They will be keen to put last week behind them, and they beat us a few weeks ago in the league when we were very poor, so we’ve got a score to settle.

“Every time you play Kidlington, you know you will be in a tough game.

“They mix it up, and come at you, but after we blew it in the FA Cup, we’re very keen for a Trophy run to get some money into the club.”

West names an unchanged squad to the one that defeated Didcot in midweek.

Kidlington boss Julian McCalmon is hoping to name an unchanged side with Josh Tooke and Elliott Osborne-Ricketts the only absentees.

Lewis Gabbidon and striker Kaylem Patterson both came off at half-time in last week’s 5-0 FA Cup defeat against Gloucester City, but are expected to be fit.

North Leigh will look to put last weekend’s 7-0 mauling behind them when they travel to BetVictor Southern League Division 1 South basement boys Basingstoke Town.
